Earlier this year, FOEM organised a remix competition for one of the biggest tracks from Harvey McKay’s ‘Machine Make Noise’ album – ‘69’.
Having received a huge number of quality submissions, both Harvey and the Soma team went through carefully each one to determine the three winners, basing their decisions on their style, production and most importantly, their vision.
The FOEM competition was based around a massively powerful track, one of Harvey’s biggest track to date, and was no easy task for anyone hoping to produce something of such high quality. Remixes of all sorts were received, different people producing various different tracks, but with all three remixes, a host of young, talented and upcoming electronic producers from across Europe, have shone through with their unique and individual take on this influential original.
Along with the three remixes, Harvey added his own re-shape, bringing a deeper and darker element, accompanied by a deeply-rooted beat. A first-rate revision.
1. ‘69′ (Harvey McKay Re-shape)
2. ‘69′ (Kevin Roux & Arvid Remix)
3. ‘69′ (Steve Banks Remix)
4. ‘69′ (Hall North Remix)
Released 16th August, the tracks are now available:

Being one of the most skilled drum & bass DJs and producers is pretty demanding, always having to produce original material and perform without error; yet Cyantific is one of those rare artists in music who consistently comes out on top, as his new productions and latest sets only prove.
Setting up his own self-titled label, the Hospitality regular has decided to take things into his own hands, and as his first release on Cyantific will show, he’s coming back big.
Leading the way is ‘Brighter Day’ – the latest collaboration between Cyantific and fellow Hospital Records artist Logistics, featuring the vocal talents of Natalie Williams. This is already a favourite with DJs such as Danny Byrd, High Contrast, and Andy C, as well as the ravers, with the perfect combination of uplifting vocals and snaring bassline.
On the flip side, is one of Cyantific’s finest productions, ‘88 mph’ which sees him going in deep with a jungle vibe, filled with amen breaks and quality samples, reminiscent of his earlier releases such as ‘Little Green Men’ and ‘Reincarnation Dub’. This will without a doubt leave you wanting more.
Released 28th September. Save that pocket money, then go cop it!
K-Mag have also done interview with the lad, which you can check out here
Not content with running a label, DJing all across the world, and producing sick tunes, Cyantific also has his own blog, so you can keep up with exactly what he’s been up to, thoughts and all:
Refusing to pigeon-holed into one genre, his recent sets have included a dynamic combination of drum & bass, electro, dubstep, and house, all perfectly executed, which is much more than many other DJs can do, and more importantly, do well.
We’re gonna have a mix for you guys very soon! So watch this space.

When your one of techno’s biggest stars, and part of the infamous Cocoon family, as Guy Gerber is, it takes a lot for someone to come along and do a pretty damn good remix of one of your tunes. One of 2009’s biggest tunes ‘Timing’, described as ‘a Platonic ideal of “big room” techno’, is transformed by Alessandro Sensini into complimenting the DJs deep style.
A rising star of the Italian house and techno scene, Alessandro has risen to prominence via a string of releases for Nick Curley’s Cécille Records and DJ sets alongside the likes of Troy Pierce, Marco Carola, John Geiser, Konrad Black, Fabrizio Maurizi, Andre Galluzzi and Ben Klock to name a few. Proving that this rising star is certainly not going anywhere soon.
And to make things just that bit more interesting, Cocoon have decided to make this a Remix Contest, so go on, show your support and vote. Good remixes don’t happen that often…
